Davide Tonizzo

Davide Tonizzo is a design artisan. He was born in Toronto but like many Canadians, he has a second motherland, Italy. His connection to this other citizenship has both nurtured and inspired his work. Like his ancestors of the Italian Renaissance, Davide meshes engineering with art in a craft-like method creating bespoke design solutions for his clients. His passion for design was propelled by a childhood dream of being a car stylist. So Davide’s career began not in the classrooms and design offices of Toronto (or TO as locals call it) but in the model shops and car design studios of another TO, Torino.

His second love, furniture design, came to him by a date with destiny in Milan when he discovered the showrooms of the great furniture companies. These Italian beginnings have led to an independent practice of over 20 years, a diverse portfolio, many awards, patents, and publication in international design media. Davide’s work has migrated into brand creation and film making.

Cedri/Martini”

“Cedri/Martini” was born from two different project experiences, Andrea in art research, sculpture like creative expression, Rienzo in industrial design, in different methods of project visualization and specifically with regard to jewel design.
Furnitures and complements designed and produced personally, not binded by the strong imposted marketing limitations and by the serial production, destined to be realized in small series or even as unique pieces.
Passion for experimentation, taste for organic forms and the complicated geometries of nature took to the creation of futuristic objects which remind ydrodynamic forms of marine animals or polished insect exoskeletons.
